I bought this chair in a Sheetz parking lot. 🦢
Its matching twin is upstairs in my bedroom, waiting for me to decide on a different fabric. The settee? $100 at an estate sale. The big framed print on the wall came from a seller an hour away who was kind enough to drop it off at my husband’s office, since he works near them. Thrifting is a team sport in this house, much to my husband’s dismay. 😆
This room looks expensive at first glance, and a few things in it were real investments: House of Hackney fabric for the custom drapery, custom millwork, beautiful velvet fabric from Stout Textiles for the reupholstery, and California Closets pantry cabinetry. But most of the soul of this room came from the hunt, figuratively and literally: 🦌
✨Sideboard: local second-hand shop
✨Artwork and vintage books: FB Marketplace and estate sales
✨Mackenzie-Childs cookie jar: found while traveling in the Finger Lakes
✨Giant Fork: Home Goods
✨Euro mounts: courtesy of Jeffrey Keeney’s hunting skills
✨Carpet tiles: Bold FLOR, and they hold up to kids and dogs
Mixing high and low is what makes a room feel layered, personal, and lived in instead of like a showroom. The key is knowing what to splurge on.
