I passed by this in my neighbor's trash for a couple of days, debating on grabbing it. I am glad I did. I added a dowel to keep things on the shelf when traveling and it is perfect storage for our RV bathroom!

Have gotten busy on the last bastion of insanity in our house, my workspace! (not to be confused with areas that still need to be renovated) Not done, but in working order now. So, I've been a little creative. Getting old work from college and PTEC, finished, matted and framed.

Created an elegant Master Bath entry door, from a glass door panel purchased at Habitat for Humanity Restore, right before we purchased the house.

This past week was all about doors. Installing closet doors that have been cluttering up the house, (they still need to be painted), evening up the base of the front door to install proper weather stripping and creating the new Master Bath entry sliding door.

A little cleaning and spray paint goes a long way... restored old lights, before and after. I always intended to keep these lights and restore them, because they are beautiful and unique.

So excited. Did the waste drain plumbing for the new kitchen sink, by myself, while Hubby was at work. No one was happier than Hubby though, because HE HATES PLUMBING! LOL Dishwasher was hooked up the next day and the installer even said that I did a good job.

So, Russell installed the framing for the reduced window between the kitchen and Florida Room. Initially, I was going to eliminate it all together. But, after I got the view into the Florida Room looking so good, I decided I wanted to just reduce it for the new kitchen. Getting prepared, just needs drywall.

Painting the fireplace was taking forever because of the deep mortar joints. I had a handyman tell me to just use a super heavy nap roller. Well, all that did was suck up a ton of paint and spit all over me. Did not get anywhere near the deep crevasses. So, back to the throw away brush, painting in the joints and rolling the face of the brick. Tedious and time consuming, but the results are worth it. Should have sprayed it when I had the chance!

Learning experience! Ceilings were painted by previous owner. But there was still some bleed through of ni****ne stains. Naively, we thought one more coat would finish the job. Eeeennn (buzzer noise) wrong answer. Everything we painted with latex ceiling white, looked the same as it did before. Turns out ni****ne is water soluble and will bleed through any water based paint. So, we purchased Zinsser Bin shellac based primer to block any potential bleed through. Most rooms have four fresh coats of paint now, including ceilings. One coat of Zinsser Bin shellac based primer, one coat of Zinsser 1*2*3 water based primer and 2 finish coats. The results are dramatic!

So we purchased a home just under 2 months ago that is a fixer to say the least, one step above uninhabitable. Hubby and I wanted a project we could really sink our teeth into. Here are some of the original photos. Still an ongoing project and will be for several months yet. But, I now can find the time to post, so I can show progress.
