The Student Organization for Sexual Safety (SOSS) is a student coalition of passionate allies, survivors, and advocates who are dedicated to creating a healthy and safe sexual climate, as well as shifting the culture on Colorado College’s campus towards ending sexual violence. We tackle issues through an intersectional lens such as rape culture, sexual assault, rape, intimate partner violence, and
other forms of abuse and trauma, while also celebrating and promoting healthy, pleasurable, and consensual intimate experiences. SOSS provides students with a platform to question and understand the intricacies of these issues and the ways in which they influence our community. We serve as a resource to inform and empower people to make safe decisions that feel right for them, whether that involves sexual activity or not. We hold events throughout the year which provide students with safe settings to engage with topics regarding sexual safety, as well as organize preventative health initiatives, and produce creative publications that advocate for and educate our community on sexual health and safety. We also partner with CC administration, staff, faculty, and other student organizations in order to ensure a cohesive effort towards mutual goals of ending sexual violence at CC and supporting survivors. SOSS also partners with the Healing Project and the Creative Self Care Space to provide a healing space for survivors of any degree of trauma and their allies. SASS is open to anyone regardless of experience, gender expression and identity, race, ability, religion, sexuality, and ethnicity. Above all else, we stand in solidarity with survivors
Programming includes: film screenings, special interest presentations, safety trainings, residential hall programs, guest speakers, group/organization training, art projects, safe spaces, community discussions, and more. We are a program of the Wellness Resource Center and work closely with our campus Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Program to provide the most informed, up-to-date, and accessible information.
