A Little Speakeasy Magic in the Making

Seven hours of install work, condensed into one minute.

Yesterday, our crew installed bar tops for a new speakeasy inside the historic Aladdin Hotel in Kansas City—just one of many countertop installations we’ve completed throughout this restoration and renovation project.

This one is definitely the bee’s knees, and we’re excited to see the final product!

Happy Birthday to Richard Fike.

Richard has never been one to seek the spotlight, but the impact he’s had on Heartland Stone and the family behind it is impossible to miss.

From the beginning, he brought a strong work ethic, determination, and a refusal to give up when things got hard. Those qualities helped shape the foundation of a business that has continued to grow through the work of family, team members, and so many others along the way.

Today, Heartland Stone is more than one person’s story. It’s generations working together, a team that takes pride in what they do, and a family legacy that continues to grow.

Richard may not want the attention, but today we’re giving him a little anyway.

15 Years with Heartland Stone

Today we’re celebrating Matt and 15 years with Heartland Stone.

Matt is one of our fabricators, but craftsmanship is only part of what makes him such a valuable part of our team. He’s an artist at heart, and that creativity shows in the way he approaches his work every day. There’s a real attention to detail, patience, and pride behind what he creates.

Outside of work, that same creative spirit carries into his love of art and music, along with a love for cats.

Fifteen years is a milestone worth celebrating, and we’re incredibly grateful for the skill, creativity, and personality Matt has brought to Heartland Stone over the years.

Congratulations on 15 years, Matt. We’re lucky to have you on the team.

One of our most-asked questions is: “Which countertop can I put a hot pan on directly?”

And in honor of this very dated meme… the answer is still: NONE OF THEM.

Granite, quartz, quartzite, marble-no matter what you have, a screaming hot pan can cause discoloration, cracking, scorching, or damage to sealers and resins.

So yes, the meme may be old… but the advice is not.

Hot pan? Use a trivet. Every time.
