All those toy cars, trucks, and other wheeled vehicles are what I took to the Apple Butter Festival at the Petit Jean Farmers' Market this morning. And every last one of them is either with a child, or being carefully kept for Christmas. . . y'all bought my entire stock. I had a great time and sold most of my inventory, and once again I thank the market folks for making the magic happen.

Tomorrow, it's back to the shop to make some more items for the next stop on my 2026 World Tour of Central Arkansas. But tonight. . . thanks again to everyone who put this market together. Y'all are a real class act. And thanks to everyone who came out and bought something I made, or something a fellow vendor made, or who just hung out and enjoyed the music. You made it all happen. G'night.

So a lot of my puzzles are made of tulip poplar wood, which is inexpensive and easy to find -- but it doesn't always have much character. I don't usually go out of my way to acquire rare imported woods, mostly because they're expensive. But now and then, when I get a good deal, I like making use of their natural colors and patterns.

I haven't put finish on these puzzles yet, but the picture gives you the idea. The penguin's made from an African wood called limba, which can be either black or white (OK, darker or lighter grey). I just happened to get a board with both black and white zones. The zebra is made from another African woods that's called -- well, it's called zebrawood. What do you think?

I made these mini puzzles last week and am packing them up for the Petit Jean Farmers' Market Apple Butter Festival this coming Saturday! These aren't especially new designs; if you've visited my booth before, you've probably seen them already. But I will be debuting a few new designs at the Festival, as well as breaking out some older ones that I haven't made in a while. So come see them all at the Apple Butter Festival up on Petit Jean Mountain this coming Saturday!

OK, OK, the shop is a little disorganized. . . but these puzzle pieces will pop right together as soon as the finish has dried. What will the complete puzzles look like? You'll just have to come by the Apple Butter Festival at Petit Jean Farmers' Market on October 24, and see what I've made for you! I'll have my usual designs on display, but there will be a few surprises, too. . .

I just visited BTM Woodworking LLC in Conway. Folks, if you need anything related to craft woodworking, I'm pretty sure Tommy has it or can order it. He's got locally milled hardwoods plus a nice selection of exotics, knife scales and turning blanks and finishes -- a lot of stuff that'll save me from paying shipping and waiting for packages to arrive, lemme tell ya. I doubt whether I can keep them in business single-handedly -- I mean, I'll certainly try, but sometimes I have to buy groceries and boring stuff like that -- so you followers that work with wood, or are thinking about it, really ought to stop by the shop at 813 Oak Street, Suite 4!

Whoof. . . Compare the photo of my booth at the start of the Merchant Market with the photo at the end! I sold out of toy cars for the first time ever, and I took down two tables early. This has been a very successful market, and I thank Conway Parks and Rec for a fine job putting it all together!

Now I have to work like a maniac to rebuild my inventory for the Petit Jean Farmers' Market 's Apple Butter Festival in two weeks! (Mind you, that's not a bad problem to have. . .)

Just a reminder to come see me -- and a whole lot of other vendors -- at the inaugural Merchant Market tomorrow! We'll be set up at Lake Beaverfork from 10 AM to 6 PM! I'll be in space #1 in group A, and I've been sawing all week to make puzzles and cars for you, so come check us out!

Here is the final map for tomorrow's Merchant Market! We will open to the public at 10 am and remain open until 6 pm. Check out our vendor list to see where everyone will be located. It is a free event, come out and see what all these wonderful local vendors have to offer!
