Just found this on the curb on trash day. This mustard yellow is soooo 2018. 🙄 Should I grab it?

I've been meaning to write this for awhile... I know I’ve been quiet around here for quite some time.

A lot of you have messaged or commented things like, “Good to see you’re okay,” or “Where have you been?” and I appreciate that more than you know.

I'm doing fine but the truth is, I haven’t been doing much furniture work lately. Not even in the past year or so.

For the past 13 years furniture was my creative outlet and my business. It taught me how to take something overlooked and turn it into something meaningful. It forced me to create my YouTube channel which led me to learn how to edit videos, hone my storytelling skills, and build an audiences and communities.

It also taught me to trust the weird ideas that pop into my head. And now, all of that has led me somewhere completely different.

🦋I started a butterfly release business last year and it is now my full time business.🦋

Yep. I literally breed and raise butterflies that cater to full service butterfly releases at all sorts of events from memorials to weddings to public events hosted by local cities. Someone out there will ask "How did you get into that?!" Once again it started from a hobby but I'll have to post about that another time😉

This photo and video are from a recent charity gala where we set up a live butterfly tent and helped guests interact with monarch butterflies after hosting a massive butterfly release in a beautiful courtyard.

It was one of those nights where I looked around and thought, “Okay… this is what all of that was leading to.”

The creativity from furniture, the video editing from YouTube, the storytelling, the patience, the problem solving; I use all of it now.

I didn't want to do a goodbye post so that isn't what this is.

That Shabby Guy isn’t done. I just grew new wings. 🦋 This is just a new chapter in my adventure!

I’ll probably still share a few private furniture projects here and there, but furniture is no longer my income or even a hobby at this point. My focus now is butterflies, events, releases, creating beautiful moments for people in a completely new way, and educating people along the way.

If you’re interested, I’ll share more of this new chapter with you and maybe some of the old ones.

This poor dresser was left for the dump but I cleaned it up, gave it a fresh coastal vibe, and it is now ready for a new home!

I got around to refinishing this night stand I found on the curb. I ended up going with a soft white base and a washed top with updated hardware. This combo beat out the other navy/gold or purple/gold mock ups from the other day. Now time to find it a new home!
