Most people buy the wrong coffee table.
Here are 3 rules designers use to get it right (plus a bonus tip). Save this for your next living room project.
1. Get the Size Right
Your coffee table should be about ⅔ the length of your sofa. Keep the height level with the seat cushion or up to 2” lower. Leave 14–18” between the table and the sofa, and at least 24–30” for walkways.
2. Contrast, Don’t Match
A round table softens a straight, boxy sofa. Curves next to clean lines feel intentional. If your sofa is angular, go for something organic.
3. Echo Your TV Console
Same design family, different material. A wood console pairs best with a glass or metal table, not another wood one.
Bonus: Tight on Space?
Choose a table that adapts. The Amazonico’s top rotates and extends, giving you more surface when you need it and less when you don’t.
