I think about this a lot, because it’s true of every piece I make. There’s a little bit of me in every design: the color I couldn’t talk myself out of, the detail that took three times longer than it should have, the “what if I just...” that turned into the best part.

Someone told me recently that I dress a lot like the art I create. Bold color, a little gold, nothing too matchy-matchy. I laughed, and then I realized they’re right. Apparently it’s officially a personality. 😄

So when you bring home something handcrafted, you’re not just getting furniture. You’re getting someone’s taste, patience, and stubbornness, all in one piece.

Do you see yourself in the things you own? Tell me what your home says about you 👇

Hey there Delilah, what’s it like in your new city? Pink drawers, gold leaf spots, and a whole lot of attitude. 🐆

Fair warning: this video is almost two minutes. But those two minutes cover a lot: hand-painting every leopard spot, adding gold leaf so they catch the light, a paint wash to bring the wood back to life, and swapping the hardware for something that finally matches her energy.

I also changed my mind halfway through. The design I started with isn’t the one you see at the end, and I’m leaving that in on purpose, because nobody tells you that making something bold usually means redoing part of it. Watch for the moment the whole piece clicked.

If you’ve got a brown, boring dresser at home, stick around until the end. I think it’ll change how you look at it.

Which part would you want to try yourself? Tell me below 👇

The full glow-up is live: how two brown, forgettable nightstands became a matte black, wallpapered, paint-washed, hand-hammered set. 🎥

Fair warning: this process is not the fastest route. Nobody needs to hand-hammer sequins into the sides of a nightstand. But I wanted them to move and catch the light, so here we are, measuring spacing and tapping them in one by one. If you love watching the “unnecessary” steps that make a piece unlike anything else, this one’s for you.

And if you’ve got brown, boring furniture of your own, watch for the part where it stops being boring. Textured wallpaper, a paint wash, and a little patience can take something you’ve stopped seeing and make it the piece everyone asks about.

Press play, grab a snack, and tell me which step surprised you most. 👇

Meet Theo & King - These nightstands have a secret — literally. A hidden drawer tucked into the design, and sides covered in hand-hammered sequin pieces, each one measured and spaced by hand so they catch the light and move as you walk past. It’s texture you can feel before you even see it.

One of one. No shortcuts, no templates — just hours of hand placement and a finish that moves with the room.
Kitten approved, obviously. 🐾

These are now a part of a private collection.

Meet Racer - This coffee table had good bones but zero personality — so I gave it some. Four clean teal and gold pinstripes down the center, a soft paint wash across the stripped wood, and suddenly a piece that could’ve blended into any room in 1995 is fully living in this century.

Sometimes the fix isn’t complicated. It’s some bold lines in exactly the right place.

Meet Milo — a barrel side table that went all the way back to bare wood before it became this.

There’s something about stripping a piece down to nothing — no old finish, no stain, no history layered over it — and starting completely fresh. Milo got that full reset, then a dip: raw wood up top, deep matte black below, gold legs to finish it off. Open the door and there’s a flash of coral waiting inside, the kind of detail only the person living with it gets to know about.

This one’s part of a private collection.

Meet Ciera — formerly a quiet brown secretary desk, currently a whole mood.

She came to me soft-spoken and a little overlooked, the kind of piece people walk past at an estate sale without a second glance. So we gave her some edges: a matte black exterior with just enough attitude, gold boots because confidence has a dress code, and an interior so unapologetically hot pink you have to open her up to believe it.

That’s kind of the whole philosophy, honestly — the outside can be composed and moody, but what’s inside doesn’t have to match. It can be loud. It can surprise you. It can be the thing you didn’t know you needed until the drop-front opens and there it is.

Ciera’s ready for her next desk job. Who’s hiring? 💅🖤💗
