There are times a customer will call with what seems is a simple project, like this R***r with a stripped front ejector rod housing screw hole in the barrel that turns out to be a bit more complicated!
The issues with this R***r started long ago with someone wanting a short barrel conversion but lacked the skills or equipment to do it correctly....one shot fired sent the ejector rod housing, eject rod, screw and spring down range! Turns out not only was the tapped screw hole in the barrel way oversized and stripped but also not located properly and everything was held in place with copious amounts of red loctite and a prayer.

Our fix consisted of a turned threaded bushing silver soldered into place, dress backed, ejector rod housing shortened properly so the rear is supported by the frame, also had to shorten the ejector rod and spring to get the most extraction as possible while we were at it we notched the center pin so it can actually be pulled without using pliers all while maintaining an appearance that no one was ever there.

When your customer wants to suppress his Italian sh***un with a barrel wall thickness that won't accept chokes without compromising strength you have to think outside the box to make it happen.
The od of the barrel was almost the exact same dimension as rem/win chokes so we threaded it externally, machined up an adaptor/extension, cut back the original barrel, screwed on the adaptor, threaded the end for win chokes then added a blind pin and induction brazed it to meet the ATF requirements for an permanent muzzle device.
Throw whatever ridiculous job you have at me I will find a way to make it happen without compromise.
The final product balances well and runs flawlessly!

I don't get much time to post these days as the shop is so busy reaching for the phone is the last thing on my mind.
Had my Son helping me this past weekend so he took a few short vids to share.

It's a Savage they say. Why do you need to true up the action when it has a floating bolt head?
Hmmm .005" is a fail....the floating bolt head can only compensate for Lug abutments that are imperfect not for a chamber and bore that are no longer collinear.

Some say that stocks with integral cnc'd aluminum inletting and even a full chassis doesn't need bed but our ri**es have proven over and over to perform more consistently with a proper stress bedding job.
