🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 🔥

This year’s theme is:
⚡ “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” ⚡

From phones and laptops to power tools, toys, e-bikes, and scooters, lithium-ion batteries are part of our everyday lives. Taking a few simple precautions while charging can help prevent a fire.

🔋 Use the charger designed for your device.
🔥 Charge devices on a hard, flat surface — never on a bed, couch, or other soft surface.
🔌 Unplug devices once they are fully charged.
⚠️ Stop using batteries that are damaged, swollen, leaking, or unusually hot.
🏠 Keep charging devices away from anything that can burn.

This Fire Prevention Week, Fort McDowell Fire Department encourages everyone in our community to make safe charging a shared habit. Talk with your family, check your charging spaces, and remind a neighbor or friend to charge safely.

Together, we can help prevent fires and protect the people and places we care about. Share this message, start a safe-charging conversation, and encourage others to join us. Small actions make a big difference — charge smart, charge safe, and help keep our community safe. 🚒🔥

🫵🏻 DID YOU KNOW?

Every year, the Fort McDowell Fire Department conducts annual fire inspections of all commercial buildings throughout the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.

These inspections help ensure compliance with fire codes and identify hazards before they become emergencies. Our goal is to protect lives, property, and the community by maintaining a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors.

Fire prevention is just as important as fire response, and annual inspections are one of the best ways to reduce fire risk.

🚒 Prevention today. Protection tomorrow.

☀️ Extreme heat is here. With temperatures expected to stay above 110° for the next several days, now is the time to protect yourself and your loved ones.

💧 Drink water before you feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—not even for a minute.
👵 Check on elderly neighbors, friends, and family members who may be more vulnerable to the heat.

A few simple steps can prevent heat-related illnesses and save lives.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.
