PlantCon 2026 was the perfect way to wrap up our final community outreach event of the year!

We enjoyed a weekend full of connections, friendship, laughter, and plenty of begonia conversations. Our community table welcomed visitors throughout the event, and we were excited to help establish five new ABS memberships, including four with DFW affiliations and one with the Austin branch.

Don Miller spent Saturday with us, answering questions and sharing his passion for begonias. It was also great reconnecting with Aaron Pecson from the Hudson Valley Branch and meeting Anya from Botanicaz, who traveled all the way to Texas to participate in both the Houston and Dallas PlantCon events. We spotted Ryan Wilhelm from Steve’s Leaves helping out some friends and Derek, The Chocolate Botanist, invited us to future podcast that he and some friends host.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and helped make PlantCon 2026 such a wonderful weekend!

A big thank-you to The Chocolate Botanist™️ for stopping by our table and spending some time chatting begonias with us at PlantCon!

What started as a little troubleshooting turned into a fascinating conversation about ethnobotany and even an invitation to potentially join him on his podcast! How exciting!

Your energy was a wonderful way to kick off our morning. We truly appreciate you taking the time to stop by, say hello, and stay awhile. It was a pleasure connecting with you, Derek, and sharing our love of begonias!

Stop by our community/non-profit table this weekend at PlantCon Dallas! Got begonia questions? We’ve got you covered. Are you interested in joining the American Begonia Society and our local branch? We can help you with that also. Say hello, talk begonias with us, and show us what you bought. We can’t wait to see you!! PlantCon International ®

Here are some photos from our field trip to Steve's Leaves for our monthly meeting yesterday. Of course we were all obsessed with the begonias, but everything in there is just beautiful. We want to thank Steve, Kim, Ryan, and their staff for having us out there and showing us around. It was a beautiful day!

Reminder! There is no regularly scheduled monthly meeting today, Sunday, October 11th. We’ll see you all in November.

B. ‘Lota Rose’

‘Lota Rose’ is a Rhizomatous begonia with a lobed leaf shape and spiraled leaf base. The colors of this begonia are perfect for spooky season.

Come out to the plant sale at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden for the final day. All begonias are buy 1 get 1 free (including terrarium). There are lot of plants left so come on out and take a look.
