Cane Spotting at Colonial Williamsburg! 🪑
During our visit to the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg last week, we spotted two beautiful examples of antique cane furniture: a large sofa dating to circa 1800–1815 and a chaise lounge from circa 1820.
Both pieces showcase the timeless appeal of woven cane. Beyond its beauty, the open weave served a practical purpose, allowing air to circulate around the body—a welcome comfort on a hot summer day!
It’s always a pleasure to see the craftsmanship and ingenuity of traditional cane furniture preserved for future generations.
