“Think of antique or hand-crafted items you’ve had trouble finding to stock in your store. There’s a pretty good chance the Amish have it or know where to get it. It just takes a posting in my magazine—Jamie”

Antique store owners, thrift flippers, collectors, and rustic traders:
What types of inventory do you have the hardest time finding or sourcing consistently?
Examples:
• cast iron
• primitive furniture
• vintage farm equipment
• colored glassware
• old tools
• handmade wooden goods
• lanterns
• crocks & stoneware
• industrial antiques
• practical farmhouse items
I’m curious what people are actively looking for but struggle to keep in stock.
Trying to better understand inventory demand, sourcing gaps, and what customers are asking for most often.

Over the past several months, I’ve been working on a new concept through Plain & Modest Magazine that helps connect Arizona stores with Amish & plain-community readers from the Midwest & Northeastern U.S.
The idea is a little different than traditional advertising.
Some stores may have inventory that strongly appeals to Amish readers through print advertising in the magazine:
• tools
• cast iron
• vintage farm equipment
• practical antiques
• quality handcrafted goods
• useful household items
Yes, Amish will pay to have these items shipped to them. Over the past ten years doing business with Amish communities, I’ve personally witnessed items as large as antique road graders, farm equipment, trailers, and other vintage machinery being shipped long distances to Amish homes and farms.
Because of that, we already know many Amish buyers are willing to arrange shipping for smaller practical items as well.
At the same time, many of these same stores also have strong visual appeal for non-Amish locals and broader online audiences through Facebook videos, reels, and promotional content.
We’ve begun developing a compatibility walkthrough system that separates:
✔ Amish Reader Compatibility (print exposure)
✔ Online Promotional Compatibility (social media/public visibility)
The magazine reaches Amish readers through print.
The online content helps promote stores publicly.
We may also help connect stores with Amish and rural suppliers throughout the Midwest & Northeast who produce practical handcrafted products and inventory.
Still refining the process, but this flyer gives a pretty good overview of what we’re building.
If you think your store, inventory, or products may be a fit, feel free to reach out.

We are a resource. Think of us like an Amish Facebook Marketplace, but it exists in a magazine read by Amish communities all across the nation.
Our Community Connections Board is designed to help connect businesses, suppliers, buyers, and opportunities through a publication already trusted and read throughout Amish communities.
