It was a lot of fun making these two stools. I ended up using a lot of hand tools in this one. Used chisels to round off the tops of the legs to create the round tenon from the square legs, and my new pull saws to cut the slot for the wedges, flush trim the tenons, and cut the legs to size to make them level. I love when clients put their trust in me to build something unique for their home. I can't wait to teach this class at opening in September!

Would you be interested in taking a stool making class??

The Scrima Family had to lay our sweet Bear Bear to rest this past Saturday. He just turned 9 last month but had been battling a brain tumor since earlier this year. He brought so much joy to our home and was the first addition Melanie and I got for our house when we moved in. He was always such a lovable goofball, and his crazy puppy energy never left him. He was there to welcome all three babies when we brought them home, and became their forever cuddle buddy.

Thank you for all the amazing memories Bear Bear. 💔

Logo is done for the makerspace! Still in the business plan and funding stage but have made a lot of progress this week. Went to the Philadelphia Small Business Expo as well as spoke with several banks and credit unions about the new business and all feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so far!

Here's a recent basement bar I made for a client. I loved the way it turned out with a Sycamore top with Cherry arm rest. The under lighting and choice of bar stools totally complete the look they were going for. 🤟

Hey!! My name is Dan Scrima and I'm a customer furniture maker and wood enthusiast! I am finally giving it my all to fulfill my dream of opening a Makerspace right here in the suburbs of Philadelphia. With my wife, 3 crazy kids and our dog by my side, we're going to open an amazing place where people of all ages can come together to learn the art of woodworking through shop memberships and group/private lessons. One day the goal will be to expand to metalworking, blacksmithing and other crafts, but we're first going to start with an amazing woodworking shop run by top notch instructors and a superior staff of energetic makers!

My biggest need is the initial investment into creating a safe workshop with proper dust collection, electrical drops wherever needed, and building renovations to support having many makers working on projects at the same time. I have already purchased most of the equipment needed to get started, but things like leveling the floor and making sure bathrooms and a common area kitchen are up to standards will definitely take some capital.

With the idea that we can start small, we still want to maintain a high standard so that members get the experience they pay for and are energized to keep coming back every day and build new projects! I literally cannot wait to see what everyone makes in this space!

If you have the means and the desire to help with this dream, it would mean the world to me to click on the link to the GoFundMe!

It's been about 6 months since I finished the desk and mudroom cabinetry in our office converted from our single car garage. Now that we've been using it we know what modifications and customizations we'd like to do which will really make it a nice play to work every day. A major thing will be hiding cords and adding more storage in under the desk as well as a printer cabinet.

Hey, if you'd be interested in a custom office or desk, message me!

Finished some Walnut waterfall bathroom vanity pieces. The first one is the countertop and the second is the lower shelf. Customer originally wanted me to cut down a piece of Home Depot plywood he was going to use, and I definitely convinced him that it wasn't the best choice ha. He quickly brought his wife into the discussion and they went with solid Walnut, and I'm glad they did.

This was a fun one. Some amazing clients and friends had this bed that her father made years ago. He passed on a little over a year ago, and this bed went unused and wasn't really needed anymore. They really didn't want to throw it out and wondered what else could really be done with it. I wanted to only use materials from the bed itself so we came up with a rough idea and I took it away to the shop. After some brainstorming this was the design I came up with that utilized the unique parts of the bed.

The main material is maple from the rails and headboard/footboard for the sides and back, and the shelves were the pine slats of the bed. The boards were thinner than I would typically use, and I wanted to reduce flex once the shelves had weight on them, so the whole bookshelf is constructed with stopped sliding dovetails so it will remain very rigid. And obviously I had to add a small dedication detail to her father as well.

This was definitely a different, fun project. If you need something built custom, reach out!

Got some pictures back from an awesome client who commissioned most things in these pictures. I made them the table, bench, kitchen island countertop and floating shelves, all from solid Sapele. This was part of a large renovation to the client's home, and they contacted me early in the process so the lead time would work with their construction schedule.
