2 months & 12 days until my 16th birthday! 🥳

Linda and I have been making furniture for over 35 years. After getting married and purchasing our current home, we found that we needed a lot of furniture to fill the rooms. We started out making wall units, bedroom dressers and armoires. Since we ended up with quite a bit of scrap lumber, Linda decided to make some cheese and cutting boards rather than having the wood end up in the landfill. When we had friends over, they noticed our handmade furniture and inquired about having some pieces made and that’s how we got started.
We were working out of a one car garage and realized that we needed more room if we were going to make this into a business rather than a hobby. We decided to build a new shop that would allow us to take on larger projects and upgrade some of our equipment. This new shop gives us more room and enables us to have a more efficient work flow.
Linda and I work hand in hand with the client from the initial contact to completion and delivery of the finished piece. We try to keep all communications to a weekly basis by phone or Zoom for project updates and pictures if needed. Linda handles the majority of the conversations throughout the project as well as helping in the shop. Our daughter Danielle handles the technology side of the business as Director of Marketing, including public relations and social media.
When you decide to do business with us, you will become a permanent member of the “Different Grain” family. We take pride in knowing nothing will leave our workshop until we are satisfied with the finished project.
