With all color running almost a week later than normal. We are seeing peak days even in November. We have a number of weekdays still available and also the last week in October. If you want to see the mountains in their peak, glorious colors now is the time to pick your dates.

A beautiful October morning, as the color begin to heighten. We’re still maybe two weeks away from peak color but boy are those golden hues coming in ablaze.

Here comes the fall color. We can’t wait. Where at about 12,000 feet so our peak will come late October to early November. Still went in the mountains. You see increasing color when you drive in or out or go to wander any of the little mountain towns.

Our pretty grassy riverbank has withstood the gentle and not so gentle vagaries of weather since the last century without much help or intervention. This chapter came to an end last month when we endeavored to protect our riverbank and cottage with a more stalwart bolstering. We’ll share more in the coming days but we’re looking forward to the grass returning thick and plush in the fall season.

This was a special moment on the Hiawassee River near Hayesville, North Carolina to see the small herd of deer, enjoying early fall. Although we see you dear almost every day both at our cottage and along the drive so we take in and out of it. This was a really special moment and we pulled over to enjoy it to the fullest.
