Awakening isn't just a moment. It’s an unfolding of daily instances we can take for granted….
I want to explore what that can look and fee like.
But how do we begin? I think some good questions would be…..
What do we have to let go of? What happens when we realize we've been living on autopilot? How do we pursue the things God put inside of us without making an idol out of our dreams? How do we become more present wives, mothers, friends, daughters, women? And how important is it to have people around us who remind us who we are when we forget?
I don't have all those answers.
But I do want to go looking for them.
And I think I will write my way through it.
So that's where I'm starting today.
Have you ever had a reoccurring dream?
The kind that keeps coming back, and you can’t help but wonder… Why this dream? What is it trying to tell me?
Or maybe you keep seeing the same number everywhere. (Mine is 111) You hear the same phrase over and over. A song keeps finding its way back to you.
Do you feel like life is trying to get your attention?
What if some of the things we brush off as coincidence, interruption, or just another passing thought are actually invitations to pay attention?
For more than ten years, there has been a thread…we will call it the woven soul.
It started during one of the hardest seasons of my life, when I was walking through the separation of my first marriage. Somewhere in that season, a song called Wake Up found me. I remember that church service like it was yesterday. The prayer I spoke never did come to fruit, but God still made goodness out of it all.
And then I went the Scriptures and found these words:
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” — Ephesians 5:14 (NIV)
I didn't understand then how deeply those words would follow me.
But now, looking back, I can see how often God had been trying to wake me up.
Not just from sleep…
but from distraction. From numbness. From autopilot. From living half-awake.
Because being awake isn't simply about having our eyes open.
Its about being alert enough to be fully present to what God is doing in you, around you, and through you.
And I think there is so much to unpack here.
Because we live in a world that is constantly competing for our attention. Noise. Notifications. Opinions. Responsibilities. Fear. Comparison. Busyness.
So much can come in through our eyes and ears that eventually we can become desensitized to what our soul needs to hear.
But I believe God is still speaking.
Still calling.
Still nudging.
Still waking us up.
So I'm going to start unpacking what it might actually look like to live fully awake.
Not perfectly.
Not with everything figured out.
Just awake enough to notice.
Awake enough to listen.
Awake enough to respond.
Come journey with me.
