We just want to inform you of a recall from Abbott, Makers of Similac Infant Formula.On September 22, 2010, Abbott initiated a proactive, voluntary product recall of certain Similac brandpowder, infant formulas. An internal quality review showed the remote possibility of the presence of a small comman beetle in the product produced in one production area in a single maufactoring facility. The FDA did find this to be true but poses no immediate health risk. there is a possibility that infants who consume formula containing these beetles or their larve, could experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, please call your physician.
The recall of these powder infant fomulas includes:
*Similac powder product lines offered in plastic containers
*Certain Similac powder product lines offered in 8-oz sample cans, 12.4-oz and 12.9 oz cans.
