How amazing to be at the Formula1 race!

Hi friends,
My daughter is running for Judge for the First Court of Appeals Place 2 and I’m writing because she needs your help. As the November election approaches, there is more and more focus on the top of the ticket, and less focus on the judicial races. But her race matters: these appellate judges are the final decision maker in 90% of civil and criminal appeals for the area. Having an experienced, hard working jurist in that role makes all the difference.
In her own words
“You can count on me to serve Texas well. You can know that from my record of prior service as a Justice on this Court. You can know it from the bar poll, where almost 3 times the number of lawyers voted they want to see me in that seat as my opponent. You can also know it from my broad, bipartisan fundraising support to date, and from my getting the most votes of any of the court of appeals candidates in the primary. I trained my entire career to serve you, and I have extensive experience with Texas appeals, both as a judge and a practitioner. I am ready to return to the Texas First Court of Appeals and to serve you well.”

“I need your help to get my message out. Please help with a contribution, if you can (you can contribute up to $5,000 to her general election campaign, in addition to any contributions to her primary campaign; if you have already given, thank you!). You can contribute here:

Please also spread the word to friends to vote for me. This may be very close, and a tiny fraction of voters know the qualifications and experience of our judicial candidates. You telling friends could swing the race. With your help, I will bring a commitment to the rule of law, efficiency, and predictability to the First Court of Appeals, Place 2. “

Thank you!
Jennifer Caughey

My daughter is Jennifer Caughey and she is running for Appellate Judge in the First Court of Appeals Place 2. she is amazingly hard-working and dedicated to her field and I really wish each and everyone of you who is in her jurisdiction, which is the nine counties around Harris County Texas should vote for her. Here are her words on why you should vote for her:

I’m Jennifer Caughey, and I’m the Republican candidate running to return to the First Court of Appeals, Place 2. This Court is the final decision maker on 90% of civil and criminal issues for the Houston area (with 9 surrounding counties). It matters that we have experienced, rule-of-law judges on this Court.

I have the experience and principles to serve you well. After being appointed to the Court, I issued 125 rule-of-law opinions, worked on 450 appeals, and cleared my docket. I earned broad support for that work, and my record shows I will always be true to the law and efficient. Despite that, I was swept out with all my colleagues in 2018’s wave.

I’ve devoted my career to appeals and public service. I chair the Appellate Department of Texas’s largest law firm, Jackson Walker. I handle appeals in this Court daily. I’m also on the Texas Judicial Council and the Board of Disciplinary Appeals. My Texas appellate practice has been widely recognized and praised, including by Chambers, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and US News.

My race is particularly critical. Because of my experience and track record, I have strong support, including substantially more than twice the number of lawyers voting in the bar (lawyer) poll that they want to see me in this seat. I have broad endorsements, ranging from the Houston Police Officers’ Union, Texans for Lawsuit Reform, the Houston Realty Business Coalition, the Mexican American Bar Association, and the Coalition for Good Government, along with the support of a wide array of law firms. I received the most votes in the primary of any of the 20+ appellate judicial candidates. My opponent, on the other hand, admits in her filing forms that she’s never handled a Texas appeal or made an appellate argument. Texas needs experienced, principled, rule-of-law judges deciding their civil and criminal appeals.

I need your help to get my message out. Please consider a contribution here:
https://www.jennifercaughey.com/donate/ You can give up to $5,000 this election cycle.

Please also help spread the word to friends. Despite me having millions of voters, these seats are often decided by a few hundred votes. You contributing or sharing this message can make the difference.

Thank you!
