The full build of my outdoor lounge chair. No screws, no fasteners, just a lot of wood joints for my second ever chair build

I made a mistake. Now we have to fix it. Doing 4 Dutchman patches to make the joining of the seat with the back legs look much more seamless. Along the way, relying on my ŌURA 5 to tell me when to go hard, when to rest and tracking my (very long) recovery after surviving sepsis this summer. My heart has been sloooowww to return to baseline but I get to be back working hard in my shop, winning games in beach volleyball and no permanent organ damage. Hallelujah! Life is good!

(And spoiler, I finished the whole rocking chair today! Stay tuned)

Assembling the seat for my outdoor lounge chair

I need to take a nap after the stress of this glue up. My Oura Ring tracked this as about as taxing as playing competitive beach volleyball. Glad you guys find it relaxing tho

Making huge mortise and tenon joints for my outdoor lounge chair. These are the legs and will probably still be standing after the apocalypse

10/14/2026

Fixing my rocking chair. Some crazy heatwaves caused the seat bottom to pull away from the seat back. So a little support beam with mortise and tenons was added.

Fixing the gap by adding a support piece. It’s not even fully secured yet and already solved the problem perfectly!

1mm tenons are so cute! But will be strong enough to provide the support the seat bottom needs
