One of the biggest questions I get asked is: “How much does a custom dining table cost?”
The honest answer? It depends.
There are a lot of variables that go into pricing a one-of-a-kind table. What species of wood are you looking for? What size? Are you wanting a solid hardwood table or an epoxy river table? What kind of leg design do you have in mind?
Every one of those choices affects the final price.
Obviously, a 4' x 3' table is going to cost less than an 8' x 4' table. An ash table will typically cost less than a walnut table. And the design and construction details can make a big difference as well.
The majority of the custom dining tables I quote fall somewhere in the $2,000–$3,000 range. That number sometimes surprises people, so I want to explain what goes into these tables.
These aren't IKEA tables. They're not made from particle board, laminate, or mass-produced materials. These are solid hardwood tables made from locally sourced Minnesota timber.
The trees I work with are harvested throughout Minnesota because of storm damage, disease, or because they're reaching the end of their life. Those logs are then milled, professionally kiln dried, and carefully crafted right here in Minnesota.
And the process takes time.
From the moment a tree comes down to the moment it becomes a finished dining table can sometimes take years. One of the longest parts of the process is drying. After the logs are milled, the lumber can sit for months — and sometimes years — before it ever goes into the kiln. Proper drying is critical to reducing cracking, warping, and movement in the finished piece.
So when you purchase one of these tables, you're not just buying a piece of furniture.
You're investing in Minnesota hardwood, local craftsmanship, and a piece that is built to last for generations.
A custom dining table isn't something that should be replaced every few years. My goal is to build pieces that your family can enjoy for decades — and hopefully one day pass down to the next generation.
If you're considering a custom dining table and want to talk through options, sizes, wood species, or pricing, send me a message. I'd be happy to help bring your idea to life.
