Here is where I removed a poorly built staircase and replaced it with a proper, up to code staircase in Scarborough.

A nice new deck for a customer in Kennebunk to enjoy.

The gable end is framed and ready for sheathing. Next, the entry door will be removed and a new opening will be created to accommodate a new one.

After attaching the ledgers to the wall, the 2X12 floor joists are in place. Next will be framing of the gable end and creating an opening for a bank of windows. Because the floor is 14 inches higher than the original floor, the opening had to be enlarged to accommodate the height of the new window header. The same will need to be done to the entry door. As you can see in the first photo, the existing entry door is below the new floor.

After a day of demo and much clean up, this small garage is ready to be converted into a living space/work area.
