Autumn is the season that does the most with the least. Deeper tones, longer shadows, the instinct to make a space feel more considered and pulled in. It doesn’t take much to shift a room in that direction. Sometimes it’s one piece in the right material, in the right place, that changes how the whole space reads.

The cantilever is one of the most enduring ideas in furniture design. The Ellis takes that idea and strips it back to its essentials: a tubular steel frame that wraps three moulded foam cushions with a lightness that heavier chairs can never quite achieve.

Pure, minimal, and comfortable enough to work in a dining room, a workspace, or anywhere in between.

Last month Matt took the overnight sleeper from Shenzhen to Shanghai for Furniture China 2026. Not the fastest way to get there. Definitely the right one.

Some things haven’t changed since 1996. The instinct to talk to the stranger across the aisle. The value of slowing down long enough to actually see something. The reason you show up in person instead of reading a quote sheet.
