t’s always such an honor to get to choose the family we will support for the upcoming year! Supporting adopting families has been one of the core values we have held since that first little market in my home. This year, as He always does, God showed up and made the choice an easy one. This lovely family received several nominations from family and friends. Each nomination filled with words of love and adoration for the beautiful hearts of this couple. As I read through each separate emailed nomination realizing they were all for the same family I smiled and thanked God for illuminating the path once again.
And so, meet this years adopting family!……..
“And then there were five.
In 2016, we began our adoption journey after learning that infertility would be part of our lives. Despite the diagnosis, our hope to build a family remained steadfast. We welcomed Allie in 2017 and Stormie in 2019.
In 2022, we learned that Allie’s birth mother was pregnant, and the girls were thrilled at the prospect of a new sister. Josie was born in March 2023 with substance exposure and spent her first month detoxing in the hospital before moving in with her grandmother. When it became clear that her birth mother could not care for her, we stepped in with her grandmother’s blessing.
As of October 26, 2026, Josie Mae officially became a Cottrill. While nothing in our daily lives changes, her legal name now reflects the home she has always known.
Our girls face challenges due to factors beyond anyone’s control, but they are strong, courageous, brave, loving, sensitive, and loyal. They are blessed to have their biological parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family actively involved in their lives. We take the privilege of caring for these children very seriously.
Over the years, we have also had the honor of opening our home to more than 30 children—some for a day, others for over a year. None of this would be possible without our incredible village and the support you provide to our family. We are deeply grateful for God’s grace and love through it all.
For the Children,
David and Kyra Cottrill”
