Should you reface your cabinets or replace them entirely?

The answer isn't the same for everyone. Our latest blog walks through the decision: when refacing makes sense, when full replacement is the smarter call, and how to weigh the cost difference honestly.

If a kitchen update is on your list this fall, it's worth a read before you commit one way or the other.

Water, steam, makeup, toothpaste. A vanity surface needs to hold up to all of it and still look good every morning.

Cambria quartz handles that well.

✔️ The color runs all the way through the slab, so chips and wear don't reveal a different material underneath.

✔️ It's nonporous, meaning no sealing is every required and moisture can't work its way in over time.

✔️ The design range gives you tons of options, from clean whites and soft neutrals to bolder veingin that can make a bathroom vanity feel like a design moment.

If a bathroom refresh is on your list this fall, our team can help you find a finish that works with your tile, hardware, overall vision, and — mostly importantly — your LIFE.

The bathroom vanity is one of the most-used pieces in a home.

Between drawers opened, surfaces touched, and mirrors checked, it logs more daily contact that almost anything else you'll buy for a bathroom remodel.

So when it isn't right, you feel it. Every single morning.

That's the standard Bertch Cabinets are built to.

American-made, fully customizable, and flexible enough to fit any project. Available at Standard Kitchens in three distinct series: Classic, Linea, and Furniture.

Considering open shelving? Here's an honest take from our designers on when it works vs. when it doesn't.

✅ Open shelving makes sense when:
• You reach up for those items every day (daily plates, bowls, glasses, coffee setup)
• You want a small kitchen to feel more open
• You're displaying curated pieces (ceramics, cookbooks, plants)
• You're willing to keep it tidy

❌ Open shelving struggles when:
• Storage needs are high
• Items you'd store don't look consistent together
• Your kitchen sees heavy cooking, steam, or grease
• You'd rather close a door on the clutter at the end of the day (no judgment!)

How you live in your kitchen matters more than any design trend. Our team can help you figure out what's best, or how a hybrid approach could work, before you commit.

Not every remodel has the same demands or budget. That's why we find ourselves recommending Wilsonart — they have a lot of options.

Here's a quick breakdown of their most-loved countertop materials:

🔸 Quartz - For the kitchen that needs to look exceptional and hold up to heavy use.
🔸 Solid Surface - Seamless, repairable, and a great fit for bathrooms where integrated sinks make a big impact.

What's landing in kitchens and bath this fall isn't dramatic. It's deliberate.

Here's what our designers are seeing in showroom consultations right now:

🪵 Warm wood tones - Natural oak and walnut finishes are replacing cooler gray palettes.
🪨 Bolder countertop movement - High-contrast veining, deep backgrounds, dramatic patterns.
💡 Layered lighting - Under-cabinet, pendant, and recessed working together.
🪴 Texture over gloss - Matte cabinet finishes, honed stone, textured tile backsplash.

Curious what any of this looks like applied to your space? Come see it in the showroom.

A countertop's edge profile may seem like a small detail, but it has a big impact on the finished look of a kitchen.

Here are a few common options ⬇️

• Eased — Clean, simple, and works with nearly any design style.
• Beveled — Angled edges add subtle definition and a more traditional feel.
• Ogee — Decorative curves create a classic, elegant look.
• Waterfall — The countertop continues down the side of the cabinetry for a bold, modern statement.

The right edge profile helps tie together the style of your kitchen, and it's worth considering almost as carefully as the countertop material and color.
