The 6th annual Mods & Rockers is this coming weekend, are you ready?

This event is now hosted by Rolling Moment, I’m just helping out a bit with lodging and to introduce our main raffle prize. Anything else, please direct your questions to Rolling Moments – it’s their rally.

First of all big Shoutout to Greg Ownby for once again donating his time and talent for fixing up this bike – and hold on to your horses: A motorcycle!

This year’s raffle bike for Rockers v Mods is giving a nod to the rockers for a change. The raffle bike this year is a café-caressed 1993 Honda CB750 Nighthawk. Decked out in a café fairing, a Benelli Mojave-styled fuel tank, lower bars, and bar end mirrors this bike is ready to take on the Mods. But she doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk. The four cylinder in-line 750cc motor features hydraulic valves, so they will never need adjusting and power is smooooth. She has been freshened up with new oil and filter, new air filter, spark plugs, throttle cables, fork seals and oil, new tires, new speedometer, neutral switch, seat cover, handlebars, grips, and mirrors. She’s not perfect, but who is? She will definitely get you to where you need to go safely and reliably and she will turn heads along the way. Value is approx. $2000-$3000. This in addition to all the other fabulous prizes you are used to – shout out to Honda Suzuki, Jeff and Kristen!

Friday Night 7pm – at the Depot Grille again! https://share.google/8KVXMSCK5rLC6cqnH

Big thank you again to Depot Grille for hosting and providing appetizers! This is where you can check in with Rolling Moment registration, pick up your shirt, patch and two raffle tickets. And yes, we will have additional raffle tickets available.

Saturday Morning 10 am – at 3 Roads Brewery LYNCHBURG https://www.3roadsbrewing.com/lynchburg

· Check in for the rides, which will take off at 11 am and last about 2hours or +/-. Make sure you have had a hearty breakfast and a full tank!

· Upon the return from the rides, live music and games will begin (about 1:30 or 2pm)

· Awards and Raffle will be about 5pm.

Lodging:

Due to an in-town college football game, most, especially reasonable priced Air BnB’s and hotels are booked in Lynchburg. However, there are additional options:

Appomattox is 20 minutes from Lynchburg, and there are still a few rooms available: https://appomattoxinnandsuites.com. Speak to Dana (General Manager) at 434 664-2018. Mention Jennifer from the Hilton Group, who reached out to Dana for confirmation. I suggest doing that soon.

Madison Heights is right across the bridge from Downtown Lynchburg and has a few hotels/motels, though you might be required to be somewhat courageous and lowbrow….

In addition, David and I are hosting already several folks at our house. If you have camping equipment – our yard is yours. Peter and Danielle also have a room if needed.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and shoutout to David Vega and Rolling Moments for taking over the event and by that continuing the traditional Mods and Rockers Rally in Lynchburg

August Post Ride Report:

Meeting was called to order on Sunday, August 30th, by clubmate Pam Winegard who was there early and promptly at 2:05 p.m., seconded by clubmate Tové Phipps. Weather was noted as bright and sunny. Number of scooters: 11, with a Lambretta leading the monthly ride, which felt extremely appropriate to all present. The gorgeous ride was familiar down a favorite path, Trents Ferry Road. The rolling pastures mid-ride is always therapeutic and a favorite of mine to gaze upon. I'm happy to report that we had zero breakdowns. Ride then terminated safely at Mi Patron. Notes of interest: clubmate Bill Bodine contemplated a rebellion inspired by the lack of Peach Margaritas not reaching his table in a timely manner. We had the "Bedford Boys" visit us again, Stephen Rodriguez & company rode all the way from Bedrock to be with us! Clubmate Rick Coyle and myself bored the ever polite Peter Kerschbamer to death as we spoke of historical reenacting and uniforms with glee. Finally, clubmate Glenn McGrath did join us late for margaritas and I'm certain he said something inappropriate, as his table broke up abruptly at 4:48 p.m. officially ending the meeting.
Respectfully submitted, Patrick Hubble de facto secretary on loan from the Foulers Scooter Club

P.S. fyi the September monthly ride will be in support of the Mods & Rockers Rally by Vega!

March Post Ride Report:

Meeting was promptly called to order by Stephen and Ryan (I affectionately refer to them as "the Bedford Boys") at 2:32 p.m. Number of scooters: 17, with the two Lambretta's leading the way, which filled all present with immense joy! Weather was ideal. It was so delightful to hear all the conversations and folks catching up with one another. Next on the agenda was to go on a ride in the gorgeous sunlight. The ride was uneventful with the exception of Bridget's Vespa, which all was needed was a fuel rod adjustment (which she had figured out), a swift kick by yours truly had us back on route. I then noticed Joshua was MIA (all was well, he had to tend to a minor family emergency) but that, combined with Bridget's Vespa temporarily acting up gave me pause, ...so I skipped the scheduled scenic vista stop atop Chandlers Mountain. Ride terminated safely at Trail Head for food, more convo, and adult beverages. Notes of interest: Glenn M. exposed a part of his body showing me his Welsh Dragon tattoo. Jeff B. wore yet another signature Blues music t-shirt. Bill B. has not been implicated in the Epstein Files to date. Peter K. and Michael C. spoke in depth about wood for anyone who cared to listen. Erik B. did not have to push start his Lambretta once that day, I'm happy to report, he's so dreamy. Honorable Mentions go to: Paul Ewing for attending despite great peril to himself, and for Kim & Dave R. for making sure he arrived home safely. Thanks guys. Club President Danielle K. instructed me to organize a group ride for April, so mode it be.

Respectfully submitted, Patrick Hubble, defacto secretary on loan from the Foulers Scooter Club.
