It doesn’t get much better than this midcentury walnut dresser designed by Edmond J. Spence as part of his Coronation line, crafted in Sweden 🇸🇪 It’s signed on the back. Excellent condition; 32.5”h x 72”w x 20.5”d; $2950. I challenge you to find this quality in design, materials, and construction from any of the current-day big box furniture manufacturers…at any price. Oh, and that Art Deco convex mirror is the cat’s pajamas, as well.

What’s the best day to visit Salvage Style? It’d have to be Thursday 🚚 It’s when I unload, clean, and price all the new stuff from my picking adventures. It’s also the day that furniture that sold the prior week gets picked up or delivered, and when I re-merchandise the showroom. So you’ll hear me say, “watch your step” and “sorry for the mess” and you might need to wait a sec while I check my receipts to give you a price. But if you can handle the chaos, Thursday shoppers get rewarded with first dibs on new arrivals 😘-Amy

When I was an editor at This Old House magazine (2001-2016) I dedicated a lot of ink to the American Arts & Crafts movement, and the present day folks who honored it. This quarter-sawn oak sideboard is a beautiful example of the Mission subset of that style. It belonged to a customer, who had it in her family for generations (see last image) She could no longer be the steward, so she asked me to find someone new to love and care for it. I’m still searching for a maker’s mark, but I’m quite sure it’s by Charles P. Limbert Co from about 1910. Dims: 63.5”w x 39.5”h x 22”d; $1350. It’s a beautifully crafted piece with three spacious drawers, two cabinets, and a key 🔑 to lock up your silver or other valuables. It’s on original brass casters to move it around, but you could remove those to lower the height by about 2 inches.
