Story time! We had an amazing sale this past weekend and I have to commend our incredible staff for all of their hard work, and also our sweet customers for their patience and all of their purchases. We are blessed to have the best of each!!

The power went out in the house a number of times, due to the sauna being turned on we finally figured out, it was hot and dark and people still shopped without complaining. The electric company came out quickly though each time.

On Saturday we had a slightly terrifying incident happen a few doors up the hill from the house, where a stroller with a toddler in it got away from the mom and was rolling down driveway towards the road, where cars were coming and going. Apparently an Amazon driver saw it happening and jumped out of her car to stop the stroller, which she thankfully did. Then unfortunately she fell and hit her head on a piece of metal sticking out from a parked trailer. She was conscious but bleeding profusely. There were so many shoppers and neighbors who stayed to hold her hand and help her until the firetruck and ambulance got there. They were so kind. While they were working on her, the traffic into the neighborhood built up to where no one could move. Hence Doug trying to direct traffic at the main road.

During this time as people shopped a man told Melissa that he wanted to buy a chest of drawers. Melissa told him that JJ could help him move it (JJ was already soaked and worn out from moving so many pieces), but that Doug had to direct traffic for awhile, and he would have to help JJ carry it out, to which the man said “that’s bull sh*t”. She again told him that there has been an accident with a person hurt and Doug could not come in to help, to which he replied “I don’t give a f-ck”. She told him he could come back later and he said he was never shopping with us again. Yet somehow he bought the chest of drawers and helped JJ carry it out.

I was outside with the hurt lady at the time but when I came in and Melissa told me I believe my head spun around and as I blew green vomit I snarled “where is he?! What does he look like?!” in full demon mode. At that point he had already left. I don’t get mad often but that made me furious, for Melissa, for JJ, that a customer would behave so badly. It’s a courtesy that we help move things. We try hard to keep our customers happy but everyone has to understand our guys are not obligated to drop everything to assist to move items. In our ads I say to bring muscle to move furniture. Most everyone is thankful for the help and tip our guys who go out of their way to provide assistance, but this is a reminder for those who think it’s mandatory. It isn’t.
