An approved elevation provides more than visual direction. It can become the basis for preliminary material quantities, purchasing preparation and a clearer understanding of project costs.

Connecting design information with preliminary quantities and cost understanding is one of the workflows I’m carefully testing with our AI Design & Millwork Assistant.

The objective is not to replace professional verification. It is to create a clearer connection between design and preparation.

A design assistant shouldn’t stop at the drawing. It should help calculate what it takes to build it.

From approved plans and elevations, our AI-assisted workflow calculated a preliminary material takeoff and helped organize a purchasing list for the project.

We are still testing, correcting and improving—but we are no longer simply imagining what might be possible. We are seeing those possibilities take shape through real projects.

And this is only the beginning.

For this kitchen, I used AI as part of my interior concept workflow to help transform initial ideas into consistent preliminary drawings — connecting dimensions, layout, materials, functionality, and design intent in a way the client could clearly visualize.

This is still the first phase of the project. It is not a replacement for technical drawings, engineering, or final construction documentation.

But for concept development and client presentation, it allows us to explore ideas, identify possibilities, and communicate direction much faster and with much more clarity.

Technology becomes valuable when it supports experience — not when it replaces it.
