—A fond memory of first starting to work with Bernd in 1998 was my being tasked with stencil-transferring stamps on 18th and 19th-century furniture, while referencing
Pierre Kjellberg’s dictionary of furniture. Bernd said to, ‘Leave no stone unturned to find them.’ A tradition that has carried on within the company for over 30 years now.

This survey of chairs represents the past, the present, and also future classics throughout a wide range of periods.

‘Artona’ bed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Italy, 1975. Dutch 1970’s mahogany, cubist bookcase. French, 1950’s swing arm sconce.

Four chairs by André Sornay (1902-2000) with round rosewood back, faceted edge and Sornay’s patented nailhead motif, affixed with four brass bolts with beveled heads to a mahogany frame. Signed with Sornay’s firebrand on the inside of front leg.
