Good afternoon everybody. I had an interesting project come by the shop. 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa Complaint: bike stalls when placed into any gear. Did an inspection of the safety switches on the bike all found to be in working order. Unscrewed the oil fill cap an watched to see if the clutch plates separated when the clutch lever was pulled and from what I could see they separated but the bike still stalled when you tried to put it in gear. I was puzzled I decided to pull the clutch apart an see what was going on. Unbelievable the whole center of the clutch pack was stuck together solid. If they don't slip/ separate you stall.I've never had this experience before. This was new to me. Wanted to share the experience with you guys. Fyi don't just run your bike from time to time when your bikes sit up ride them. The clutch pack needs to open and get oil in between the plates to keep everything lubricated. Had a great day.

Every now and again stuff happens while riding. The happens to be a black plastic shopping bag that made it's way onto the exhaust and melted. With some patience and a few sharp razor blades I got the pipe almost back to perfect condition. Took a little over and hour all in all. Had to get the pipe really hot. That helped tremendously.

Sometimes we get questions in regards to when such wear items as chains and sprockets should be replaced. This is the rear sprocket of a motorcycle. Please take note. The difference is self explanatory but just in case your not sure of what your looking at. The sprocket on the back side (aluminum color) barely has any teeth for a chain to ride on where as the top sprocket(grey in color) has plenty of big teeth the chain to ride on. That kind of wear is normal for aluminum sprockets. They are very soft and wear down rapidly. If you lubricate your chain often and inspect the sprockets as you l**e you might be able to catch the wear and replace the sprocket before it gets worn were its unusable. Thanks for reading. Ride safe.

Good morning all. What your looking at is called a clutch basket. This is the condition we found it to be in after that failed attempt at a burn out. In my professional experience we've found that in situations like this it's often best to replace the inner and outer clutch hub to ensure that when you replace the clutch pack (friction and steel plates) everything works as intended. That burned on coating will effect how the clutch plates slide on the splines of the inner and outer hub. Thanks for the read. Everyone have a great day

Good morning family. We got a call to come to look over a bike that was involved in a low mph mishap. The City of New York was performing some sewer maintenance near the owners home and didn't do a great job of cleaning up the debris from the repair. Needless to say they pulled out from their garage and pulled on the street and hit the throttle and went sliding mid way down the street. We looked the job over and it wasn't as bad as it could have been. With a mix of new and used parts she's back together again. All work performed onsite at the owners home. What do you guys think?

Good morning . This is what happens when you abuse your clutch. All the friction material is worn off and the plates become brittle and crack. Just some WE deal with on a regular here in the shop. Just thought I give you an inside view.
