Three brands. Three very different takes on sustainability.
A few weeks ago we launched our new Lunch & Learn Series. And in this first installment, Interior Designer, Isabella Patrick of Isabella Patrick Interiors lead a conversation about Sustainability In Practice with the founders of 3 brands we Represent that have Sustainability as a core Pillar of their business but three different approaches to it.
Edward Wakefield of .colour offered a quieter perspective, positioning himself and his team less as innovators and more as custodians of materials and crafting techniques that have existed for centuries, sometimes millennia.
For Edward, sustainability isn’t the goal, it’s the byproduct. Approach design from a place of purity and restraint, and what’s left is something inherently sustainable.

“Where do you draw the line between innovation and preservation in your own work?”

Reintroducing The Ash Collection
Last week, we talked about what sustainability actually looks like in practice, not as a checklist, but as a way of thinking.
The Ash Collection by is a perfect example of that.
Instead of starting with a design, Stacklab starts with the material, in this case, ash wood impacted by the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, and asks what it can become.
What follows is a collection of furniture built around a single geometric form, resulting in less than 1% production waste.
A reminder that sometimes the most interesting design decisions come from constraint, not freedom.

THE ASH CONSOLE 😍
In this episode of OTF, On The Floor, our President shares more of his favorite consoles. This one is among the most substantial pieces in the showroom, the Ash Console by .
Crafted from reclaimed ash, this piece gives new life to material that would have otherwise gone to waste. At nearly 500 pounds, you feel that weight in its presence, grounded by STACKLAB’s signature pedestal base.
Part of a larger Ash Collection that includes dining and end tables, all made locally with materials sourced near their Toronto studio.
Stop by, see it in person, and experience the scale for yourself.

3 brands. 1 conversation. Sustainability in practice.
On March 25, we’re bringing together three founders whose work is redefining what sustainability actually looks like in design today.
For these brands, sustainability isn’t marketing language. It’s embedded in how their products are made, the materials they choose, and how long their pieces are meant to live in the home.
We’ll be joined by:
Jeff Forrest of
A. Jacob Marks of
Edward Wakefield of .colour
The conversation will be guided by interior designer , whose work and perspective make her the perfect voice to lead this discussion.
We’re excited to partner with to bring this conversation to the showroom.
We can’t wait to have you be a part of it.

TEXTILE NEWS!
We’re thrilled to introduce .colour.
Over the past year, we’ve been working closely with this incredible team to curate a collection of handwoven rugs crafted in Nepal using rare natural fibers, including high-altitude yak wool and golden muga silk.
Each rug is undyed, unbleached, and entirely handmade. No shortcuts. No surface tricks. Just pure materiality.
By letting the natural fibers speak for themselves, the texture, depth, and nuance of the materials take center stage in the most beautiful way.

50+ years of dedicated craftsmanship!
In 1975, Noel and Janene Hilliard built a foundry and glass studio in their backyard in Arcata, California.
Fifty years later, every fixture is still handcrafted there.
At Dennis Miller, we’re proud to represent makers who are as committed to material, process, and integrity as they were on day one. Hilliard Lighting is exactly that.
Old-world techniques. Contemporary form. Enduring design.
Here’s to 50+ years of dedicated craftsmanship, and to the light that continues to shape what we do.
