The Roark Modern cachepot is a very specific, sculptural piece from Lisa Bowles’ collection—more design object than simple planter.

What it is

The primary model is the Bauhaus cachepot from Roark Modern:

* Large, modernist vessel with strong proportions
* Typically finished in black bronze resin or a chalky white variation
* Approx. 16” diameter x 10” height
* Fully waterproof (so it functions as a true cachepot—an outer decorative planter)

A cachepot, by definition, is meant to hold a plant in its nursery pot, hiding it while protecting surfaces—more about presentation than drainage.

Pricing & positioning

* Black bronze version: about $4,200
* Chalky white version: about $3,800

This places it firmly in the collectible design / gallery furniture category rather than typical home décor.

Design language

The piece references Bauhaus principles:

* “Form follows function”
* Minimal, architectural geometry
* Meant to stand alone as sculpture—even without a plant

It aligns closely with the rest of the Roark Modern line (Arp lamps, Nevelson pieces), where objects blur the line between functional design and art.

A pair of Arp Lamps with custom silk shades by Roark Modern creates a quietly sculptural statement—especially in a SoHo interior where art and form lead the conversation.

The Arp Lamp, designed by Lisa Bowles, draws from the biomorphic language of Jean Arp—soft, curving forms that feel almost carved by nature rather than constructed. Cast in plaster or resin - finished in materials like black bronze, ivory, or gunmetal.

Roark Modern is highly regarded by interior designers for its “art-as-furniture” approach. The Striation mirror is not just a functional object; it’s a relief sculpture. The use of European waxes and shellac glazes gives the frame a depth of color and a soft luster that is difficult to replicate with mass-produced pieces. The Striation Mirror is a standout piece from the luxury collection by Lisa Bowles for Roark Modern. Known for its tactile, sculptural quality, it draws inspiration from organic forms and mid-century modern aesthetics.

A high-contrast architectural photograph is a masterclass in the exact Soho aesthetic one could expect from Adrain Gaut, photographer and Colin King, stylist.
It captures that specific “Roark Modern moment”—a blend of mid-century weight and contemporary sculptural lightness, perfectly staged for an editorial eye.
Large-scale abstract works with heavy gestural lines that anchor the wall.
The Chair in the foreground provides a chrome-and-linen curve that breaks up the vertical lines of the wall and the horizontal line of the sideboard.
