Getting the American Beech and Sassafras live edge slabs ready for the Slab Table Workshop that starts this coming Thursday 2/16. We have always lived Beech slabs, especially with a little splaying. But these Sassafras pieces are quite a pleasant surprise - a very warm delicate coloring with slight curl to the grain. I’ve already picked the piece I’m keeping for myself….

New kiln load on its way to the shop today! You're looking at massive Ash from a Pelham, NY frontyard and Black Walnut from a Middletown, NY backyard. Both removed for safety reasons. So nice to know where this wood comes from. 😁

RE-CO crew crushing some siding on Dan's Tiny house build this weekend. And yes, in true RE-CO spirit, all the oak used was felled and milled on the same property.

Let's all give a shout out to down but not out who couldn't be here this weekend because of an injury. Feel better Chris!

And this was one of the smaller ash slabs we milled this week! This tree was infected with the Emerald Ash Borer beatle, but also had a colony of carpenter ants that made some really gorgeous voids. Look out for Ash 379 late next year!
