On View: Shane Gabier

We’re big fans of Shane Gabier’s ceramic practice here at .shop. Each one of Shane’s sculptures showcase an organic sense of mobility through shape, color theory, and functionality. We often imagine how these pieces will go on living outside of our shop world.

The Vietnamese chĘ”i. A historical household tool deeply woven into Vietnamese culture and daily life. The chĘ”i is traditionally crafted from the dried flowers of Thysanolaena latifolia (known in Vietnam as cĆ¢y chĆt or cĆ¢y đót), a grass that grows in the mountainous regions. Once harvested, the brooms are skillfully bounded, and woven with vibrant colored string by local craftsmen.

5 years ago we built something out of this tiny 400 sq ft studio apartment. It was meant to be a 2 week pop-up. Fast forward a few more pop-ups, 1 permanent storefront, countless collaborations, projects, connections in New York and all over the world. We’ve written many of our own chapters on the start and end of meaningful relationships, difficult business decisions, and most importantly always coming back to why all of this matters: to gather people together, sharing, and staying connected to our Vietnamese roots.

We’re going to keep WORKING, GROWING, BUILDING.
Like how we’ve always done it since day one. Having FUN at our own pace, paying attention, and witnessing life around us to see what our people need.

We can’t thank our friends, family, creatives and supporters enough for being apart of our journey the last 5 years.

A passionate group surrounds Beverly 1975.

Thank you for being with us.
Here’s to 100 more!
