This is a letter from Mexico to the world. When it is closed, it is a wooden canvas, painted by hand. When it is open, it is a table or a stool. For the special edition created for .pier, designer Sofia Chapa-Ibargüengoitia transformed the piece with an oil painting. The design is symbolic of a colorful Mexican fabric that is being overshadowed by the violence, expressed in the painting by a — a traditional symbol tarnished by violence.
