Our Bars runner for a test run in my hallway before it is sent to our client! Hand knotted in beautiful New Zealand wool. Our colors are hand dyed from our library of beautiful shades. A long time classic from our rug designs, it has been produced many times, in wonderful colorways and always looks so new and exciting!

They are my reason for a lot of my joie de vivre each day! I had my fun and then at 40 and then almost 46, I created these two fabulous guys to share my existence with! If anyone asks me how I get to stay so young and fit, I would say it has to do with keeping up with these two! So grateful to have them in my life!!! It has been so much fun with way more to come! xo.

Martin Potts was an important person in my life. He was a beautiful artist, sensitive and dedicated to painting every day. He was from Yorkshire, England and studied at Leeds College of Art and the Slade School of Art. He came over to work with Richard Smith as his assistant and he met me! During our time together, he started on Valentine” Day to make hearts out of plywood and paint them. They could be set on a table or a wall. They lived in our country house that we fixed up together. We were together till 1993, and went our separate ways. But we always reminded friends and followed each others new lives. This is a picture of some of the valentines. A fun story with this grouping is my friend Amy Lau came up to the country house and immediately (being the designer she is!) she wanted to put them on a wall as a grouping. So here it is!! Love Amy for this, as a matter of fact, that weekend she did not stop moving and rearranging my place! It was perfect and to this day the flow is partly her creation. Both Martin and Amy have passed away and I miss them so in my life. Two people that made me part of who I am today, and I love them for all the time we had together in my life. Both so creative, talented, caring and so funny. Both taken too early from cancer. They are both still my valentines.

Ceramics is learning to let go. I have gotten much better with harshly judging the outcome of my glazing, and learning to step back to let the results take hold and reveal themselves.
There is so many layers to the process and the pieces all have a common energy that I truley love. Also the more I do it, the more I let go, so I really embrace not having a real plan and letting my subconscious take over.
I used to want to have a sketch and work from that, now I just let the piece speak to me a bit. This vase was about strokes, I just let my hand do the talking…

Totem, is a theme in my work these days. It is my go to when I start to draw, a visual that stands tall and repeats.
I love approaching the ceramic vases with this motif and working my way around the piece.
In this vase, I used a ceramic crayon to sketch out the totem.. and then chose a pretty ivory to fill in the shape.. then waxing that over and bringing in color to the space in-between.
It is always a process and a surprise result. I always have to step back and wait a few days before I come up with my opinions.
I like this one, might not go in for another firing… otherwise has a good energy!

It is starting to feel like Spring again!
The tulips are out.
So grateful to be turning a corner on that long cold winter!
Lots of lovely projects going on in the studio, with beautiful color ways and textures.
Still a few lovely ceramics available. Pictured, Totem in terra cotta.
I love this vase, It was a lot of just expressive feelings using glaze in my totem theme, on top of very geometric brush strokes in slip. Then lots of scribbling :)
Ceramics is about letting loose. Listening to Stones… Let it Loose, great song :)

A client came to the studio today interested in embroidered fabrics for a bedspread or throw, and we ended up looking through the archives. It’s always fun to look back at early pillow designs and colorways like this one - Duet in hand-embroidered fine rayon.
