Our newest video takes a close look at an extraordinary antique Brittany buffet dating to circa 1880, completely hand-carved from solid chestnut.
Brittany furniture is almost like folk art, with carvings depicting the people, traditions and everyday life of the Brittany region of France.
And there is SO much to discover on this piece!
You'll find musicians playing a flute and bagpipes, a woman spinning wool, farmers going about their chores, neighbors relaxing at the end of the day, traditional regional clothing, cottages and landscapes, Celtic-inspired circular patterns, and ship's wheels representing Brittany's important maritime heritage.
Even the carved figures supporting the upper buffet are dressed in traditional clothing, right down to their wooden clogs!
It's one of those antiques you could study for years and still find a detail you hadn't noticed before.
🎥 Watch our newest video for a tour of the carvings and the stories they tell.
