🛏️ MATTRESS FACT MONDAY

A world record so risky, Guinness stopped monitoring it. 😳

The former recognized record for staying awake was 453 hours and 40 minutes.

That’s 18 DAYS, 21 HOURS, AND 40 MINUTES. Almost 19 days without sleep.

Meanwhile, I get cranky when someone interrupts a 20-minute nap. 😂

Robert McDonald set that record in 1986. In 1997, Guinness World Records stopped monitoring the category because of the dangers of sleep deprivation.

Sleep isn’t a competition—and this is definitely not a challenge. I’ll stick to helping you find a bed you actually look forward to sleeping in. 😴

One of my favorite parts of owning this business is that when we say we’re family-owned and owner-operated, we really mean it.

We spent the day rotating out floor models, unboxing new mattresses, and getting the showroom refreshed with some new options for our customers.

We’re always looking for better products, better value, and better ways to help people find the right mattress without the traditional mattress-store experience.

“I need a medium-firm mattress.”

Totally fair. But medium-firm according to who? 😂

Mattress firmness labels aren’t standardized across brands. One company’s “medium” can feel very different from another’s—and the same bed can feel different to you than it does to your spouse.

Your build, sleep position, and personal preferences all play a part. A description online can give you a starting point, but it can’t tell you how YOUR shoulders and hips will feel when you lie down.

That’s why I’m such a big believer in trying beds in person. Get comfortable. Lie in the position you actually sleep in. Compare a few. Give yourself more than the five-second sit-on-the-edge test. 👍

If your dog sleeps in your bed, there’s a decent chance they’re doing more nighttime cardio than you realize. 😂

In one small motion-tracking study, dogs moved during 12.4% of the night, compared with 4.5% for their humans—nearly three times as much movement.

Dog movement also nearly tripled the likelihood that their human would move in the following minute. The sneaky part? Owners rarely remembered the dog waking them.

That doesn’t mean every midnight stretch equals a full awakening, and the study was small. But it does confirm what plenty of dog owners already know: somehow a 60-pound dog can occupy 90% of a mattress. 🐶🛏️

All jokes aside, I’m picky about what makes it onto my showroom floor. Every mattress is brand new—never used or refurbished—made in the USA by top manufacturers, built with high-quality materials, and most come with 10–20 year warranties.

The testing process may be ridiculous. The quality isn’t. 😅

🛏️ MATTRESS FACT MONDAY
…Tuesday edition. We're only one day late. 😂

A standard Full mattress is 54 inches wide.

Split that evenly between two adults, and each person gets just 27 inches of sleeping space.

For comparison, a full-size crib mattress must be at least 27¼ inches wide.

So yes—when two people share a Full, each person’s half is technically narrower than a crib mattress. It’s only a quarter-inch difference, but anyone who’s caught an elbow at 2 a.m. knows every inch counts. 😅

A Full can be a great fit for one person or a guest room. For two adults, though, a Queen or King usually gives everyone a little more breathing room.
