Remember this one? I had the idea a while back and I think it’s officially the last thing I had in my to do project piles for Christmas 😁

Today’s rescue

The struggle is real y’all 🤪

I love to remake or reimagine things so when I’m out thrifting, I’ll see something that I think will be a great piece, but then it ends up sitting around for way too long in my craft room because I can’t find anything that actually works on it.

This is one of those pieces. It kinda looks like an old window frame, but there was no back, and no way to put pictures or anything in it, so it’s probably just an accent piece.

I’ve been hyper focused lately on using up some of the things I’ve had too long and I was ready to just try and sell it as is or donate it but then I had an idea! The original plan didn’t work but I figured out a better solution and this is the result 😊

More finished flips from last week.

The antique mirror desperately needed a new back and a good cleaning. There was water damage on the mirror silvering/backing and I tried making it a little better but didn’t really have success 🤪 but the frame is awesome! It’s still a great piece and that glass is SO thick and heavy!

The rusty red bucket used to be my garbage can in my garage work area. I always thought it would be so cute with a Christmas tree in it! I didn’t have any kind of xmas stencil that would work so I just used the antiques one and I love how the black lettering matches the original finish!

Unplanned projects for the day 😁

I was putting a couple of things away from yesterday’s projects and had a flash of inspiration!! I had picked up this little shelf with pegs a while back and had it all prepped but no idea what I could do with it.

Well today I saw this stencil I knew I wanted to use again this year and then it hit me that I could put it on the back of the shelf!

So that’s what I did, and I did 2 other projects with the stencil and some skate ornaments I had thrifted for this purpose.

This antique wood thingamajig 🤩

I picked this up at a flea market just because it was unusual and I love old wood and those turned wood spindles are everything!

I cleaned it up and used some Big Mama’s Butta on it and omg it’s sooooo pretty now I want to keep it 🤪

Originally I was going to find a smaller piece of art or something to use it as a kind of frame, but after I saw it all buttered up I thought it would be great as small shelves so I just added sawtooth hangers on the back. Excuse me as I look for a place to hang it 🤭

Setting Christmas aside today and working on some if the larger project stuff that’s taking up way too much space in my craft room!

Today’s rescue:

Some of my dad’s trinkets 🥰

My dad passed away last month and as we were helping Mom clean out some of his things, we all picked some of the trinkets he had saved over the years. They were all tucked away in boxes in drawers or cabinets.

I took mine and made this little display in my curio cabinet so I can enjoy looking at them.

He made the little wood recipe box and the bottom is signed ‘to mother from George’ and I added his heartbeat in a bottle from the ICU team at Aurora 🙂. The rest are just random trinkets but they are the kinds of things that just end up getting tossed most of the time but they are such neat pieces of history 😁

Anyway, my point with this is that we can keep all that sentimental stuff, but need to find a way to honor it and enjoy it - not just stuff it in a box somewhere 😁
