Accordion Wall Sconce
I have been wanting to make this accordion wall sconce for quite some time, five years or so. It is hard wired to the switch just below it. The wall mount is Walnut which is 12” tall by 10” wide.
The accordion or scissor part is made of Walnut and Curly Ambrosin Maple with a Cherry spline at each end, held together with maple dowels. Fully extended it reaches 25” and is 13.5” when closed. It can be rotated just shy of 180 degrees collapsed or extended.
The shade was my first attempt at segmented turning. It is 7.25” tall and 4.25’ diameter at the opening. Wood types in the shade are Walnut, Curly Maple, Mahogany, Cherry, Curly Ambrosian Maple, and African Mahogany.

Billiard Triangle / 8 Ball Rack
I have seen these called a few different names. I normally just call them a ball rack or triangle. This one is made out of Cherry, Walnut, Padauk, and Purpleheart.

At the start of our Social Distancing I took a Friday off and started a shop class weekend with my kids. My oldest son, age 15, decided he would like to try turning a cup. I was fine with a cup as long as he tried segmented turning. His cup is made of 54 pieces of Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Purpleheart, and Honey Locust. It is 6 3/4 inches tall with a 3 1/8 inches diameter base and 2 7/8 rim.

At the start of our Social Distancing I took a Friday off and started a shop class weekend with my kids. My daughter (age 11) agreed to make an art piece to mirror a metal piece my wife and I purchased a few years back. It is made out of Cherry and Walnut. Its overall size is 28 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 1 1/2 deep.

Looks like another happy customer. This twin bed is made of white oak frame and rails with walnut panels. The slats are poplar that are dovetailed into the inner rails, also poplar.

This sled is made out of a white oak frame and runners and a cherry deck. Overall it is 52" long, 25" wide, and 12" high. The deck is 5" high and 17" wide. So far we haven't gotten enough snow this year for the kids to try either sled. All the parts used for this sled were leftover scraps. I decided I better start doing something with the scraps since my wife was starting to talk about a wood intervention.

My first toboggan. I finished it today by putting a nice coat of snowboard wax on the bottom. Around here we have snow / ice storm coming. Good thing as my kids can't wait to test it out. I hope it is fast. It is 16 1/2" wide and 5' long.

Here is a ladder shelf that I built fairly quick. My wife was asking for this for Christmas decorations. It has cherry legs and honey locust shelves. Measurements are 28” wide, 12.75”deep, 70” tall. Each shelf changes in depth starting at 6.5” at the top to 12.75” at the bottom.
