Counting down to finishing! All major parts are installed. The rest is touching up, cleaning up and veneering the odd edge that's peeking out. The kitchen side of the second hidden door was a whole project unto itself, matching the existing natural cherry cabinets with fresh cherry that is noticeably lighter. It'll take a couple of years but the new pieces should come to match the existing cabinetry as it's slowly exposed to uv light. The curved upper rails of the upper cabinet were a particular pain to try and match but I think they came out pretty well!

Unlike the other hidden door which is held closed by a simple magnet, this one latches with a hidden floor catch that was adapted to a tilting wine bottle to open the door. The other side of the door will have a recessed pull that will be joined to the same latch.

Week 3 progress report: panels and panel moulding are finished! Almost all of the backer for the moulding is installed including the tray over the shelving. Even got the acanthus moulding put in before heading out for my youngest's basketball practice today! It's getting there! Biggest hurdles left are crown moulding and the second hidden door to the kitchen.

Week 2 progress: three of the walls in this office are coming along very well! The panels are fitting and ready for the mouldings to wrap around them and after that it's just the two runs of crown!
The bathroom door was one that the customer ordered from a vendor and that I stained and finished to match, but it's hung and I can check that off the list! Feels great to be making progress!
The window wall felt like a puzzle, trimming each piece to overlap and fit just right. Check out that custom sill!

Week 1 progress! West wall nearly done. Just need face frames, tray and crown! Hidden door #1 working like a charm with a magnetic catch and Rixson center pivot hinge rated for 600lbs. Clearance of the edge of the shelving side is just under 1/8" as it passes the door frame. The shelving cases are mostly 3/4" maple ply (thanks ) veneered with African mahogany (khaya) to match all of the solid elements.

I've spent the last three months working on my largest undertaking since I started my business in 2022-a 24'x15' custom office panelled and trimmed in solid African mahogany. Today I made my last material delivery and began the install, much to my very patient client's delight. I'll share more photos of the process in the coming days, but I wanted to get this series kicked off. This began with about 160 rough 11-12' boards ranging from 10"-22" in width. So happy to be in the final stages! Wait until you see the hidden doors!

Box beams have definitely become a bread and butter item for my business. They are very popular, add a timeless sense of quality and are easy to retrofit into most spaces! These white oak box beams with custom stain to match newly installed flooring were no exception! (White oak purchased from )

This one has been a long time coming but I can call it officially done now! Planning for this custom cherry built-in library started a year ago and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Here's to awesome clients 🍻 who have lots of patience! They came to me with a couple of pictures of some curved bookcases, dimensions for a big ol' room and we quickly got the design hammered out to fit their needs. The center cabinet originally had doors designed for it but we settled on a sliding tambour design that really deserves it's own post because it turned out 🤌 We included a classy satin brass rolling library ladder rail (ladder to be added soon) to get to those lofty heights!
