If you wake up tired no matter how long you stay in bed, it's easy to assume insomnia is the problem. But sleep apnoea is worth knowing about. It happens when your breathing repeatedly stops and starts during the night. You may never remember waking up, yet those interruptions can keep your sleep from being restful.
Some signs worth bringing up with a healthcare professional:
- Loud, regular snoring
- Waking up with a dry mouth or a headache
- Feeling unusually sleepy during the day
- A partner noticing pauses in your breathing
Not everyone with these signs has sleep apnoea, and sleep problems can have many different causes. But if these symptoms keep showing up, it's worth a real conversation with a doctor rather than just pushing through another tired morning.
