It’s Tuber Time!! For the next few weeks you can find me in the dahlia field digging them up, washing them and then splitting the clumps in the garage. I find it easiest to spot the eyes the day they were dug so I try and do all these jobs in one day with a smaller amount. (The eyes is where thr plant will sprout from next season.).

Today after work I dug, washed and split 15 plants. It was a race against the setting sun but a job I enjoy when the temp is warmer like it is.

I added two videos here to show you part of the splitting process. I will let them dry overnight and store them tomorrow in tubs of vermiculite for the winter.
Hit me with your dahlia digging questions and I will do my best to answer them or create a video to help you further.

Frostmas arrived!❄️ The killing frost swept in last night and with it brings some relief. It is hard to cut back the field when it looks sooo beautiful but if we don’t start, we will be in a race with the snow and unprepared for Spring.

Later today, all these flowers will be mush and cutting back the field will feel gratifying.

Thank you again for all the flower love this season. Now our posts will lack the lovely color but we will still check in now and then to show you the work behind the farm.

This is it!!! This truly is your final chance to snag a beautiful dahlia bouquet before the cold 🥶 kiss of death takes them this weekend.
Saturday at 8am, our Blossom Shop will open on final time this season. In it we have two deals for you:

A bucket of dahlias -$50. (Only two left!)
One dahlia bouquet for $25 or two for $40.

Message me if you want to reserve something. Prepayment required to reserve.

Did you know tomorrow is Sweetest Day? I am thinking you are sweet enough for some flower joy.

Thank you to everyone who supported us this season. You make the next couple months (the hardest months of the season) all worth it!! We are welcoming the frost as there is still so much to do in the field before the snow comes.

While today seemed gloomy, it turned out to be the perfect kind of day for taking photos and videos! I captured some amazing footage of many of our superstar dahlias, giving me plenty to share and enjoy during the colder months ahead.

I honestly think I could have stayed out there until dark, but I started feeling a little guilty about not making my son Grant a homemade dinner. So, three very wet dogs and I headed inside to call it a day and get some dinner on the table!

Even on a gloomy day, there’s still so much beauty to be found in the flower field.

Saturday was our final farm event of the year, and honestly, it’s truly a favorite of mine. We take dried materials from the season and turn them into a beautiful fall faux pumpkin. The weather was enchanting, the company delightful, and the beauty created so inspiring. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ending to our season.

Thank you to all of you who have visited the farm this year. You make all of our hard work so worth it!!

Did you miss our dahlia bouquets on Tuesday? Here’s your chance to grab some!

These lovely, farm-grown dahlia bouquets will be available Saturday morning at 8:30 AM in our Blossom Shop! We have lots of beautiful color options, including some seasonal favorites: Peachy Perfection, Strawberries ’n Cream, Sunburst, and Fall Flair!
