April 26, 1900: the very first Sherlock Holmes adaptation, "Sherlock Holmes Baffled", is filmed by Arthur Marvin for the Biograph company in New York City. It was made to be viewed on the Mutoscope, the hand-cranked viewer found in penny arcades of the time. The film was only 59 seconds long. It wasn't copyrighted until 1903.

In "How to Get to Heaven From Belfast" (from the creator of "Derry Girls"), there's a convenience store clerk wearing a deerstalker and reading a very well-worn copy of The Private Detective's Handbook. He sizes up his customers quite well.

The major problem with Guy Ritchie's Young Sherlock series is that Moriarty is far more interesting than Sherlock is. The second problem is that Dónal Finn, who plays Moriarty, is a far better actor than is Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who plays Sherlock.
