WAVERLY: The holiday guests are coming, and Klinker's Lumber has the two-week game plan down.

Vice President Jarrett F. Klinker starts with the quick wins: a fresh furnace filter, a Rug Doctor rental for the carpet, paint in the kitchen and dining room, and new cabinet pulls for a big effect from a small job.

Then comes the safety sweep most people skip: test the outlets, clear the bathroom drains, tighten the handrails, replace the burnt-out bulbs, and put a spare plunger in the guest bathroom before anyone needs it.

The family store on Seventh Street has been a Waverly staple for well over 75 years, family owned for four generations.
