Our slabs came from real trees — up-cycled trees that grew right here in the Carolinas, came down in storms, were cleared from job sites, or were salvaged before they were lost forever. Our team milled them by hand, stickered them to dry, and now they're standing in our shop in Charlotte — ready for their next chapter.

This straight-edge ambrosia maple dining table was milled, flattened, and finished in-house — right here in Charlotte, NC. We built a custom base to complement the natural character of the wood, and crafted a matching leaf extension that integrates seamlessly so the table grows with your family, not against it.

Ambrosia maple gets its signature color variation from the ambrosia beetle — a tiny insect that leaves behind mineral streaks of blue, gray, and brown as it travels through the wood. What looks like imperfection is actually nature’s signature.

When this client came to us with their kitchen design, they had already made the bold choice — dark green cabinetry, gold hardware, white perimeter counters. All they needed was the centerpiece. And they knew exactly what they wanted: Black Walnut.

We built this butcher block island countertop from Black Walnut sourced right here in the Carolinas. The edge grain construction showcases the natural linear patterns of the wood, while the mix of rich chocolate heartwood and lighter sapwood streaks gives it that unmistakable depth and character you simply cannot buy off a shelf.

The satin finish lets the wood breathe and show its true color — warm, alive, and getting more beautiful every year.

Black Walnut is one of the most sought-after hardwoods in North America for good reason. It’s incredibly durable, naturally resistant to wear, and its color deepens and enriches over time rather than fading. For a high-use surface like a kitchen island, there’s no better choice.

If you’ve been dreaming about a custom walnut countertop, island top, or butcher block surface — we’d love to build it with you. Drop a comment or send us a message to get started. 👇

They said stain it blue. We said — let’s make history. 🔵🪵

This is a Double Waterfall White Oak countertop — custom built and stained a deep, rich blue for a home bar right here in the Carolinas. White Oak was chosen for a reason: its tight grain and natural character hold stain unlike any other species, letting the wood’s story show through even under color. The waterfall edges cascade straight to the floor on both ends — no seams, no shortcuts, just one continuous piece of craftsmanship. This isn’t furniture. This is a statement.

White Oak is one of the most versatile hardwoods in North America — naturally resistant to moisture, incredibly durable, and stunning under custom stain. It’s why we reach for it when a client wants something that lasts a lifetime and looks better every year.

DM us to talk about your custom bar, countertop, or live-edge project. We mill it, we build it, we deliver it. 🙌

Before it's a table, a floor, or a bar top — it's this. 🪵⚡

Most people never see this part. They see the finished piece — the smooth surface, the rich grain, the craftsmanship. But it all starts right here, at the band saw, with a raw log and a skilled team who knows exactly how to read the wood before the first cut is ever made.

This log came to us from right here in the Carolinas. Our sawyers study every log before it hits the blade — looking at the grain direction, the diameter, the character marks — to figure out how to get the most beautiful and most useful lumber out of every single inch.

At Carolina Urban Lumber, we mill our own lumber from locally sourced logs. That means when you order a custom table, countertop, or live-edge slab from us, you're getting wood that was a tree in the Carolinas not long ago — and will be a piece of your home or business for generations. All of them have a Tree ID , this is ID 1152 and can be found on our website carolinaurbanlumber.com. This one is 48” x 54”

Drop a comment if you've ever watched a sawmill run — there's nothing quite like

Instead of letting lumber go to waste, we bring them to our sawmill and mill it into wide, stunning slabs that are now ready for their next chapter.

At Carolina Urban Lumber, every piece of wood we mill has a story — the neighborhood it came from, the people who loved that tree, the craftsman who will turn it into something beautiful.

Slabs are available now! Whether you’re an interior designer, a woodworker, or a homeowner with a vision — we’d love to help you bring it to life.

A walnut tree stood in a Charlotte backyard for decades — shading summer cookouts, watching kids grow up, becoming part of the family. When the tree had to come down, the family didn't want to lose it forever. They brought it to Carolina Urban Lumber. We’re transforming that walnut into a live-edge dining table that will sit at the center of their home for generations. This is what we do — we give trees a second life with our Root-to-Table program !

At Carolina Urban Lumber, we mill locally sourced trees — walnut, cherry, oak, pine, cedar — and turn them into heirloom-quality pieces using our custom sawmill equipment and vacuum kilns right here in North Charlotte.

Every slab has a story. What's yours?
