Team BCSO had an amazing time today at the Westfield State University Criminal Justice Job Fair!

This event is one of the largest opportunities for students pursuing careers in criminal justice, and it’s always an outstanding chance for us to connect with the next generation of criminal justice professionals and share the incredible work we do here at the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office.

Are you ready to embark on a fulfilling career in law enforcement? Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office, Jail, and House of Correction is actively seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as full-time Correction Officers. Competitive starting salary starting at $68,517.49 per year effective January 10, 2027.

Physical Fitness Testing Requirements:
• Push-Ups: Complete 19 in 1 minute
• Plank: Hold for 1 minute
• ¼ Mile Run & Handcuff: Complete within 3 minutes and 22 seconds
• ¼ Mile Run & Dummy Drag: Complete within 3 minutes and 37 seconds

Important Dates:
• PT Test: December 4th (5:00pm), December 5th (3:00pm), December 6th (9:00am)
• Written Test: December 8th, Time TBD
•Location: 467 Cheshire Road, Pittsfield MA
• Academy Start: Spring 2027

Completion of Academy:
• Officers will be assigned either 2nd/3rd shift with a 5:2 schedule which may include weekends and or holidays. Officers will be on a probationary period for a period of one year, set from their date of hire.

Today’s Coffee with the Community was such a successful event, filled with great conversations, meaningful connections, and some truly amazing community members. We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to stop by, share their thoughts, and help us continue building a stronger community together.

This morning, Officer Lagess had the pleasure of escorting students and staff from Abbot Memorial Middle School in Florida as they participated in National Walk to School Day!

It was a great morning and a wonderful opportunity for Team BCSO to be part of such a positive community event.

A big thank you to all of the volunteers, staff, and everyone who helped make the event a success. We’re proud to be part of our community and look forward to continuing to support events like this!
