Just a short note to say thank you to Plant City for putting on a great show yesterday. OktoberFest 2026 was great. We are also grateful and appreciative of all the customers; both our existing clientele that came to see us as well as all the new friends/shoppers that chose to come out and make it as memorable night. From the staging, the band, the vendors, and the strong presence of our uniformed finest. THANK YOU!

Miss Ruby’s is proud of our Historic Town.

Plant City, Florida, was named in honor of Henry B. Plant, the railroad and hotel entrepreneur whose South Florida Railroad reached the community in the 1880s. The town was originally called Ichepuckesassa, after a nearby creek, and later briefly known as Cork because many early settlers were of Irish origin.

When Plant’s railroad connected the settlement to Tampa and other markets, the community grew rapidly. In 1885, local leaders renamed it Plant City to recognize Plant’s role in bringing rail transportation and economic development to the area. The name was retained when the town was incorporated in 1885.

Today, Plant City is especially known for its strawberry industry, but its name refers to Henry B. Plant—not to the city’s agricultural plants or strawberries.
