Colleen and her husband recently moved into their new home, and she's been filling it with furniture that carries some history. This one carries the most. Her grandmother's Singer treadle sewing machine came into our shop, and our team refinished and restored it so it could stop being a keepsake in storage and start being a piece she lives with every day.

We'd tell you about the carved drawer fronts and the cast iron treadle base, but honestly, just look at her face. That's the reason we do this.

Got an antique chair and wonder what is inside? From the mid-1800s to the late-1900s, coconut fiber (coir) and hog hair padding were common practices for padding in upholstery. The internal materials of this piece helps us understand the age of project as well as areas we need to make internal changes to improve the comfort of the chairs.
